Autism Partnership wholeheartedly supports Autism Awareness Australia’s 2025 National Parent & Carer Survey Report. This critical research shines a much-needed spotlight on the immense challenges families face raising autistic children and young adults.
The results of the report are painfully clear: the system is not just failing to improve, it is getting worse.
Families across Australia are navigating a system that is slow, disjointed, and exhausting.
Diagnosis wait times have skyrocketed. Despite a decade of the NDIS, families are still battling for the funding their children need, making meaningful early intervention progressively harder to access. Schools are stretched thin, lacking the resources and training to properly support autistic students.
Families should not have to battle for essential services. They should not be left exhausted, financially strained, or without access to the basic supports their children need to thrive.
This report is not just a collection of statistics; it is a wake-up call.
It is a demand for change.
Progress is possible—but only if we move beyond rhetoric and commit to real change. We call on all levels of government to take these findings seriously and take meaningful action. Families should not have to fight this hard for the support they deserve. Autistic Australians deserve better. It’s time to do better.
